Sixteen Candles (’84) Trailer

gSamantha's life is going downhill fast. The fifteen-year-old has a crush on the most popular boy in school, and the geekiest boy in school has a crush on her. Her sister's getting married, and with all the excitement the rest of her family forgets her birthday! Add all this to a pair of horrendously embarrassing grandparents, a foreign exchange student named Long Duc Dong, and we have the makings of a hilarious journey into young womanhood.

The music at the beginning is by The Police “Every Breath you Take”
When Sam says everyone has gone “Outer Limits” …..that was a science fiction TV show but the music they play in the movie with it was from the “The Twilight Zone”.
Also if you watch the ending of the movie, Jakes license plate reads:21850 which is John Hughes birthday and the other car at the end on the plate it says V 58 which is for Vacation 58, a story he wrote which was his inspiration for the movie “Vacation”.

Thanks for the trivia on the license plates; only we Canadians refer to them as plates. The Yanks call them ‘tags’.

  12. Krashdavus says:

I’ve seen this movie a gazillion time – my fav. of all time. If you want to see a blooper that I just picked up, go to the seen when the old folks are headed out to the wedding. The short (non-smoking) grandmother fakes getting into the Brown Buick, and actually bends down behind the car, as they start to back out. You can see her bending over through the cars windows. As Mike Baker sez: “classic”.
